SCHLIEMANN – MELAS MANSION PRESENTS “WANDERLUST” BY KOSTAS PRAPOGLOU, PART I

Curated by Kostas Prapoglou, The Last Echoes of the Schliemann-Mela Mansion brings together 44 contemporary artists, each responding to the unique aura of this iconic Athens landmark. Designed by Ernst Ziller, the mansion has long been a symbol of the city’s identity. Now set to be transformed into a hotel, the exhibition “Wanderlust” all Passport captures a moment of transition, reflecting the inevitable march of progress.

Through this curatorial stretch, Prapoglou merges site-specific works—spanning installations, video art, sculptures, and paintings—that explore themes of space, time, and the future.

The exhibition becomes a dialogue with a building on the brink of disappearing, using the building’s imminent loss to amplify the tension between preservation and transformation. The mansion’s fading presence serves as a poignant backdrop to the artists’ reflections on change, identity and the passage of time.
